Summer Arts Day Camp for Carriacou Students ages 8-12
Session 1: July 11th – 28th
Mid Summer Break for Regatta Festival and Grenada Carnival July 29th – August 14th
Session 2: Aug. 15th – Sept. 1st
Camp Kayak Parents Day – and Camper Awards Ceremony 1:00pm – 6:00pm
Camp Kayak is located at the Lauriston Cricket Stadium 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Just around the corner from Paradise Beach!
Every day, small teams form with the artist mentors, to work on individual projects
Examples: Kite making, weaving, sewing, shadow prints, photography, painting, sculpture, cooking, nature walks, printmaking, swimming, yoga, dance, drama, music, gymnastics, candle making, paper mache´etc.
15 Students will be selected from each school zone in Carriacou
to attend Camp Kayak on scholarship, FREE Busing & lunch is included!
Students must exhibit an interest in the arts, drama or music.
Be sure to speak to your school principal or classroom teacher to tell them of your interest in attending this camp!
Students can nominate each other to their principal. If you have a friend or classmate that is artistic (they draw, doodle or sketch well), can play a musical instrument or wants to learn (like the drums or the guitar), or they sing well (always acting out a song or sings all the time) then YOU should recommend them for this camp! What to Bring
Back Pack or shoulder bag, Water-Bottle, extra clean underpants, T-shirt, shorts, bath suit (bathing caps will be provided), flip flips (slippers) & closed shoes for hikes i.e.: sneakers, or keds. Clothing should be practical – non-fragile play clothes. We will be working with art materials & out in the sand and woods for exploration of all matters on the island – no fancy clothes. Each child will receive a Camp T-shirt with a logo – this is to be washed often and kept tidy for outings and field trips.
What not to Bring
Do not encourage your child to wear jewelry, as items may be misplaced at beach time. No toys, or games are to be brought to camp – and no cell phones or mp3 players allowed at all during camp sessions.
